Omega-3 Rich Berry Banana Nut Smoothie

I am a little bit of a nut when it comes to smoothies. I love packing in as much nutrients as I can into my breakfast smoothies and often times find myself compacting my blender to get it all in there. My Berry Banana Nut smoothie is a favorite of mine not only because it has two of my favorite fruits, strawberries and bananas, but also because it is rich in fiber and omega-3 fatty acids.

Omega-3 fatty acids are polyunsaturated fats that help improve heart health and are great for the eyes, combat depression, improve the metabolism and reduce inflammation. Flaxseeds, chia seeds and walnuts are among the plant foods with the highest amounts of omega-3 fatty acids. When we mix them with potassium-rich bananas and romain lettuce and antioxidant-rich strawberries, we’ve got ourselves one powerful smoothie.

It is a light breakfast that’s great for on-the-go and the fiber in it will keep you feeling full throughout your morning. Try it out and share what you think about this smoothie in the comments.
